Thank you! HQ cam seems to be down. You saved me a couple hours of refreshing it. Heading to China Creek around 2pm.

Thanks Nicole for the hospitality and all the work your crew (Martin) have been doing to improve the kite beach facilities. Great pump up areas, parking, seating, hang out zone. Beautiful location and lots of non-kiter spectators looking very interested. The locals are mostly saying ssshhhhhh and I can see why. Good to catch up Scarlet, Dale, etc.. Overall a very positive friendly relaxed vibe. I can say that this spot is excellent for foiling! Zero debris, kelp or logs in the water and great fan like wind. 8)
curses - foiled again!

China Creek wind scene resurrection from the 90's:)

Post by Sandy Beach »

Just arrived to a half empty campground at China Creek on the Saturday of August Long weekend....a good amount of wind peeps though, just less long-term fishing people.
Half a dozen kites rigging and riding. 7 and 9 M conditions currently. Less hot than in town. Sweet!:)

Seems like a more typical weather set-up today. Sun has burned off the morning fog. Wind started building around noon. 19-23 knots now at 1:11pm. Better wind direction and less gusty than yesterday. Time to rig!!:)

Had 2 days and one evening session. Martijn and Lily were wonderful hosts, and the spot is a great alternative to the lake. A little lighter wind, and a little less predictable too, but seems like a great spot for lessons in the water!

Saturday was light wind, but it came around today and was really nice around 3:00 until we left at 6.

Hope to be back next year!

Worth noting (and it came as a surprise to us as it had not really been mentioned and we never bothered to look at Google earth) - CC isn't beginner friendly at all unless you pay for the Jetski boost upwind or a rescue downwind. There is no such thing as walking upwind and the launch is nearly dead onshore. Likewise if you miss the beach you are going to either have to fjord a dozen log booms or walk around a kilometre back. So you have to be at the reliably-going-upwind stage to sail here or pay for jetski assist.
Don't forget to bring a towel!
