This video has some really great sequences of 360s and goiters performed in small waves and onshore winds, much like we see at columbia beach. :D

The way I see it, I'm way luckier than that kid, because whereas he'll achieve all his windsurfing goals by the age of 18 and quit bored, I have my entire life of striving to just stand up on the board, and will never get bored ;-)

I was sent a pic of the the two groms that may be moving to Victoria - they are 9 and 13 and clearly on their way to being this caliber.... They could really inspire Luke and some of the other kids here.

Although the waves may be waist high like CB, I bet they have several times the energy and power.

The longer clip shows what happens to the kite... sooo scary, how do you keep from getting mummied up in your lines?!?

Here's the guy's explanation....as soon as the chaos started, he punched out, releasing himself from the kite.

http://www.iksurfmag.com/kitesurfing-ne ... -porcella/

I'd say from that point onward, he got lucky. With 23m x 4 lines, that's roughly 300 feet of line swirling around with him in a washing machine. If he got hog-tied, would he be able to get out his knife in that chaos and free himself? YIKES.

But it seems like just staying calm, not panicking, and letting things unfold, these things usually work themselves out. Until they don't of course.
