First time at squamish, it's true what they say, kites out number windboarders 20 to 1.

Couldn't believe they want you to pay $15 as a day use fee! It's nothing more than a gravel parking lot, 2 outhouses and a couple of tarps. Sure they have boats and jetskis to save the kiters from drifting out into the ocean but I also saw them burning around and playing with the kiters at the end of the day. As a windsurfer I fully expect to self-rescue so seems crazy to pay for boat gas unless I signed up for less ... (more)

Glad for a pre-lunch break from work, chance to play but the wind was not too impressive with the current running hard. First all I could do to stay upwind, then a few decent wave rides but pointing all the while is a drag.

Easy flat water sailing today .... great for practicing gybes. Only WS on the lake all day .... lots of kites. Great feeling to get more gybes than not on the port tack but still like a goldfish in a bowl ...... unable to do it in the other direction. Getting closer though. Tried some unsuccessful tacks for fun.

I rigged the 7.0m and the Futura 133 and thought I could pump my way up....well I could, then not so much....so after pump-fest for 30 mins I came in and rigged the 8.5m and went out and ripped for 15 mins, then it totally died and I couldn't even pump the 8.5m up so I schlogg'd in and packed up and made the drive home. Not enough sailing for $45 in gas. Fun in the Sun though. BANG!! //

Shopping too long....lots of parking in HR tho :D Barely got out with my new stick to try and give it a go but the wind was nuts, swells building. Sailed for a bit way OP and after a couple of catapults from being hoisted from the river I switched. Backie ramps were lacking, too much North in the gusty wind. Thai lunch hit the spot and off homeward I go.

What a trip! I need a restful holiday

Last day at Florence. Another sunny day like yesterday.

Similar to Sat. Got out on the smaller stuff for a bit but really missed the power of the big sail so I switched back. Pretty fun just ripping back and forth - lots more jibes and tacks. Feeling pretty natural now.

Sandy Beach has officially reached celebrity status. I had two people say to me "you must be Sandy Beach's husband".

Youbou side is about as nasty as it can get. I don't recommend it.

We got a much earlier start but things didn't really kick in until about 3, by that time I got tired slogging around on my 4.7, fighting waves to stay up (period way up today to around 10-12secs). Finally rigged 5.3 and was alarmed by the weight & sluggish Jesus :x Still not enough cept way out. Ditched the day & drank beers instead. Some decent rides but not near like the last two days of wicked wind/waves. Then of course it rocked at 6 when we packed up  but sm waves

started out pretty solid but it faded quickly. should have left earlier! beautiful day and sailing spot (first time there). turned into a bit of a slog fest but the venue and weather more than made up for it. all fun.

First 1.5hrs was great with the 4.7. Nice wind and great shuvit ramps. Lots of attempts with a few decent ones. Lots of vulcan tries on the inside. Wind dropped off a bit after and made staying upwind difficult. Had to use the 5.3 but even that didn't work. Fun day, super warm, great turnout.
