First time in the waves on my 111 I was just pleased to get through the shorebreak!! ( could'nt do that on the old Mistrel )

I knew I should have left earlier, but I still caught the last half hour or so of the strong wind/good waves. Tried out my newish 4.5...lovely sail. I knew it was good when it handled so well that I made most of my gybes with it. The wind dropped about 11:00, but was still steady, so I rigged the 5.8 and 99L and had a blast just cruising for another hour or so, dodging gigantic jellyfish and even getting a few hops and waverides on the outside. good times. Trev made us all meet up for carpool at 6, it was a good call. i was first on the water, ludicrously OP on the 5.3. the the wind was patchy at times like the weeds but overall a very fun session. Got to blast around on the E11 custom, its a bit of a barge but nice and floaty when the wind is light and quite turny. some nice sailing out there today with a huge turnout.
next time someone else drives so i can sleep all the way back!

The 5am wake-up call was sooooo worth it. Pretty good day even for the winter. If those outside swells had come in it would have been epic. Had some good small wave rides and then the hate weeds :evil:
Another car pool for the dads...thanks DWD for the ride and can't wait to see the cheese-shuvit landed!
The Oregon crew was looking very polished today...loops are the norm now.

Arrived just in time to watch everyone getting off the water. Thought the day was over but it was good enough to get out on the mermaid for over an hour and a bit. Some good wind waaaay out with the rare chest high swell, but light anywhere near shore. The mermaid get's better with every session. Nice to see the usual suspects, hopefully I will be able to sail with ya before the wind dies next time.

The first hour was super fun with the daddies, RD, BWD, Kus, Fish, Barb, etc. Sailed away from 5 backies. Stoked! Neck sore from forwards - time for a neck transplant!. Most people on the south coast were probably cursing todays weather, but today's CB crew sure weren't. Wind picked up just after dawn for some solid 4.7, then a wierd weed session, then back to some warm and fun 4.7 before backing off for the day.
Thanks to Kus for the hospitality at the kuschine, although it was pretty crowded in there with all the naked women.

Awesome first hour after kusschine Bfast w/million $ views, then weed fin needed :roll: so I headed way out to play in massive rollers. Best waves below beach break a ways out, smooooth & fun. Landed two huge airs (of 20) backies standing on the board & bailed, one turned into a pushloop, don't ask me how I did it :lol: boyz equal & better to the task, loops everywhere, things dropped steadily w/ huge red jellyfish out :shock:

You can stay in the bay if the wind is strong, wind blows side on, or you can head out past Madronna point where there can be good waves coming in over the shallow sandy bottom of Rathtrevor beach. We showed up Sunday and there was some light wind, but it died down by the time we were set up. Pretty much empty campground so we had the entire North end of the beach to ourselves. Beautiful sunny and calm Monday, with a short session around 5 p.m. that was enough to give a taste for the lakes potential. I was the only one out on the water. Drove out of rain soaked Tofino at 9:00 am, on Hornby Isl by 1:00 pm. Got a couple of hours on the Naish SUP in onshore Tribune Bay conditions. Learned to weight the back of the board and pop the nose up to get over breaking waves. Once the Naish starts to surf a wave it rips and surfs it all the way into the beach! I wore my fin down on the sandy beach. Fun with the pirate SF 4.2M, easy for quick tacks in the waves.

Headed down to the Gorge on Monday for 5 days of fun in the sun. George called to tell me he was at Roosevelt. "Half way to Idaho - Dale Cook". Got to Biggs at 11pm and had to crash so stayed at the "Nu Vu Motel" in "the quiet room". It was $45/night and recommended for the budget traveler BUT, if this was the quiet room, I'd hate to experience the noisy room! Should have rigged the 5.2 or switched boards but I kept getting teased out by the 'puffs' on the beach. Great turnout ,16+ Ws and 1 kiter.
Great photo op when Dunkinguy hucked a huge forward right in front of me. :D

big crew out for the good times. I forgot booties are a good idea at columbia on a low tide.. ended up thonging it then clipping them to my harness.. not a bad system. it was up and down but mostly good once i put on my big fin. popped a couple low loops and sailed out of a shuvit for the first time after trying all spring/summer. witnessed Kus' sweet 5/8 backie. sure felt like fall driving home in the rain!

Great day out with the Duncan dad's. Fun sailing with with sooooo many folk today. Carnival like atmosphere up there. Good to hook up with lots of old faces. Once from Port Steve was there shredding as was Pete who had fun gybing around many of us. What a treat to sail CB in August. :P

Wind died as I arrived and never really came back. Tried the new 5.3 which worked well but not enough wind as it kept dropping, so I went to the 6.6 But I had some good runs on the Carve. Too bad that the wind died as there would have been some nice waves in the high tide. Seemed like fall today as I packed up in the dark, cold and wet :(
