First round was decent. Almost 4m weather but I was not convinced it would hold. Sailed to Turkey and the ebb rivers were flowing nicely. Headed back as it got lighter. We exchanged wind/political/finance strategies and then it picked up enough to try the 1099. Not good, so switched to the Gilmore glider for the last round. Tracked only the 1099 try and the 1010 glider.

Started out OP'd on the 5.5m/1080 combo, but then the wind quickly dropped and it was perfect for about an hour. The wind then continued to drop to <10 so I had to limp in. Took a break, the wind filled back in so I relaunched. Lots of slogging but I got a few more runs in, then the wind died again. Overall pretty good fun in the sunshine, lots of people out, lots of stoke!

Always a bit disconcerting wondering if the harbor has enough wind, and if there is enough water to get over the inner bar, but when it works, is fun.

Looked like 4m winds when I arrived. Opted for 5m by the time I pumped up. Guys were out on 4's but it dropped a bit. Headed up to Turkey Head to see if the current was still strong enough for some swells. It was decent along the shoreline. Then the wind started to drop, so I milked it until the end and went ashore. Got a ride back to Willows.

Super odd forecast. Decided to wait for the possible west blip later in the afternoon. Rupert was down there first and said it seemed to be getting windier. Not a great future forecast, so i went to check it out! Great surprise session. Nicely powered on the 5m the whole time. Just me, Ruppdog and ThePope. We all called it around the same time and skipped a swim in. Nice to have these slightly later evenings.

Slipped back into my cold and still-dripping wetsuit and headed down to Ross Bay to see if the forecasted SW might come true. Around 5pm it did! Had a great 45 min with TunaCan and RupDogg before the sunset. Lots of debris in the water and the lighting made it tricky to spot. Continued incremental progress on the gybes and glacial progress on the foot switches.

Some good wave rides, then decided to take the long way back to the truck- by looping the spit.

A few minutes to warm up the hands, then inside to work on some turns.

Finally got a tack - little touchdown at the end, but close enough I'm call it a win. Only took 3yrs to get there ;-)

Road trip to Pipers! Late start but made it up there just as Vic locals Dr Marky Marky and just John were packing up. Pumped up the 4.0, applied a little sunscreen and jumped on the DW board! Great session some small swells rolling through, going west there was a pretty good glare, fortunately there were no logs or kelp to take me down. The coast guard hovercraft was parked downwind and I had a slight concern that if it started up it may launch me to Parksville! Hit up Duncan's A&W for a meal deal on ... (more)

That's more like it! Great day on a 82 Ginxu and 4m Proto KT wing. Slingshot 82 mast and mid aspect foil. Ended up being super fun. Went way upwind and carved way DW. End of trip. Great group of people on the trip and a great experience photographing them. I'll be happy to be riding my own gear at home!!

Fairly gutless wind today, but busted out the 6m KT diesel truck and 170L (!) KT Drifter tanker and had a surprisingly enjoyable session. Surprise was the Dakine Charger foil. Twice the foil that the Phantasm is! Pretty stiff considering it's a cheap foil! Last day tomorrow and looks like some breeze forecasted.

Fantastic light wind session at CP. The RVYC wx station was teasing with 10 and, on occasion, +10kt N winds. Them winds, the sunshine, and warmth was enough to seduce me into giving it a try, despite not having my big light wind Mantis available. Got a wonderful 5 foiling runs in about 5km of water distance travelled and a fantastic 2 or 3 foiling jibes. Perfect oppportunity to fine tune my light wind jibing and pumping technique to get up on foil and stay on foil. Sigh......

Watched it, AJs text got me off my powder fatigued arse. Quads are still quivering! Perfect foil/kite conditions, had good success w/2000, got feet pump thing going 1st time properly, anticipating waves. Skipped harness lines for better sail control, super upright & forward so no wonder lines dont work, rear strap gotta come forward again too! Only one semi foil gybe, that 2000 is much harder to tame. Tried to rig the HA 1800 but who knew it takes shorter bolts :(

The 4.0 was just the ticket. Thought I was done after a two-hour session. Hard to leave a Spring vibe. Rupdogg was going back in for a marathon session switching to the DW. Why not? Smooth finish on the longboard : ))

Started off on the 4m and Axis HPS930 front foil, that was mistake, apparently i timed the lull perfectly as everyone else had just had success with 4 and lower. Went back in and swapped to bigger gear HPS1050 and 5.5m, soo much better could actually fly. Goofed around inside trying to get my mojo back. Ended up trying the 4m again but it got light after a few runs and packed it in. At least it was warm, sunny, no gloves!
