Try thriftys or any health food store. I also seem to remember using finger less Dakine sailing gloves. But that was years ago when I used to sail all the time and my hands would get pretty beat up some times.

I know a few people who swear by Burt's Bees Hand Salve. Don't know for sure if it works....but there it is. Apply in the morning well before sailing and at the end of the day when you're done.

Up Island usually refers to the Nanaimo, Parksville, Port Alberni and I suppose the Comox area would be included also. I live in Parksville and can usually count on wearing a shortie for July and August anyway. Port Alberni seems to have the warmest temps (water and air) in the summer months not to ...

I've always been partial to these types of units for the nitnat drive. Great for local sailing too.

Don't know what Kevin is doing this year for lessons and rentals down at Parksville beach. 250-951-9873 is the number on his card from last year.

Sorry! Wasn't paying attention! Distracted by sunshine and some wind. You've done a fine job with materials on hand. Nice work Dave!

You could always put a 3/8" or smaller quarter round bit in the router and soften the edges a bit. Shave off more weight too!

Wow! I'd love to see a video of you loading your gear Kus. The only time I damaged a board on my roof was in the 80s when I used those cheap bungy cords to tie it down and 1 broke.
Obviously those who use there gear the least know how to store it quite well.

My ceiling is 11'6" in the garage. Even with a garage that big wall space is at a premium for us. (670sqft living area) I built myself a little mezzanine area over a portion of the 1060sqft garage. It has 3' over it and is about 7' x 12'. I store all kinds of stuff up there. Sup, boards, skis, ...

Good choice Tony! $10 a day still for camping I think. RVing is my favorite way to get down and staying in the campground is my preference. Others may recommend different alternatives. Food can be as cheap or expensive as you want. Lots of fresh seafood, veggies, drinking water and even baked goods ...
