Although I'm not really resident here on the island much anymore, it's always interesting to browse the chat and see how many sessions people have been getting. So, yeah, not much of a user but interested in the future of the site.

I know registration has been thought of as a consideration to assist toward funding/donations, but I don't think it's a favorite idea. However, from the many times I have talked to people who fish or boat etc. over the years, since the site began, I'm never surprised to find hat they always know of bigwavedave.ca, and use it.

Would it be possible to pop up a message to frequent/seasonal users asking for their email, and then sending them an infrequent email noting the costs of the site, it's necessity for funding, and a suggested donation relative to a self survey of their usage?

Or, just a pop up noting those same details whenever an infrequent but repeated user comes to the site?

I know when I first suggested to Dave that he place a donation button on the main page, he was reluctant. So, he made need a push again...or a better idea?
