What a great evening to reintroduce myself to windsurfing. Strong wind started in the afternoon and I just planned to miss it all as usual cause I had an appointment and a meeting booked. Home by 6:00 and it's still cranking. Long drive to the beach and had the place to myself except one kiter and one winger down towards Rathtrevor. So fun in the pseudo waves. A couple almost head high. One long swim to get some cardio after I bailed on a jump. I'm alive....

Nice warm afternoon. Wind was blasting but gusty, and relatively flat conditions. Couple groomed waves up at Clover. I need a smaller board and foil! Anybody wanting to trade from a 60ish to an 80L let me know!!

Hard but rewarding session. 95 minutes on the 72L Omen. Big step-down from 105L. Just like any other step-down to a smaller volume board, everything feels hyper tippy at first. But I was up quick and when you're up on this board, good things happen to you. Way too gusty for a 5m but the 4m was just fine. Lots of wind but gusty. Not so much on the swell.

Gust fest at RB! Super flat in the bay with lots of holes and gust geysers. Quite a bit intimidated by the bigger winds past Clover. Easy enough to stay in the bay and get faux flag outs with the big SW winds. Great to share the swells with GregCan, Danno, Matt, Grant, Alain, and many more. Much less kelp and jetsam compared to yesterday. Excellent vibe in the sets. Thanks for the post-ride bevies, Danno!

Nasty one. More wobbly wind coming in close to NW mixed with W. Punchy. Not a good mix with still getting used to short fuse and 999. Sketchy bails.
Looked and smelt like the coast guard was discharging their holding tank into the bay. Disgusting. A seal popped up with a stupid look on its face that said 'was that you or' was that me''?.
2m/~40knots on arrival. Went out with 4m a short while later, died down, went out with 5m then was op'd. Bad timing but good experience as always! Big ... (more)

Pretty great day! No rain and some sunshine. Steady wind and water is not cold. Windfoilers today as no one here so stuck with what I know. I'll try Winging if the wind calms down. Road n was good. Started on the 1100cm2 front foil and when wind picked up to 25kts, went down to the 900cm2. Started to get gusty at 4pm so called it quits and cracked open an ice cold Corona. Hoping some more peeps show up.

Looked sort of windy way up at the point so took a 4m and hedged the lulls with the 1225. Right wing choice but foil felt HUGE even in the small surf. Brazilian Buzzkill guy pestering everyone. Tough session but some good high-G turns erased the bad vibes of one individual. Mayhem at times though! Hopefully swell shows tomorrow!! Tow session was fun this am!

Fun lunchtime session at Ross Bay! Gordon had just come off the water when I arrived and gave me the scoop on the conditions. TunaCan stopped by Goat Hill but was planning on a session later in the day. No other wingers while I was out -- just one windfoiler I didn't recognize but had some fun passes with. Overpowered frequently on my 4m. I'm foiling more in control on my bad side now, and I'm starting to go through the motions of learning to gybe. Ang, Danno, both Gregs, DrMark, Alain and Tweezer rig ... (more)

that was a gooder- gale NW, so a bit gusty, swirly in the bay, but quite manageable.
Lots of opportunity to practice some turns - all gybes though- I'm at the point i don't fall a lot anymore doing those, so the thought of all that crashing getting a tack down is a bit daunting. Maybe next time;-)

New kite to try out, started just after 4:30 when the lull hit, had a short swim in. But reset and headed back out again only to see Davey_k coming back in just as I was about to set off. Waited a bit, CB showed up and must have brought the wind. So I re-launched and headed out, a fun but overpowered session lots of debris in the water. A warm and a fun time on the new kite as I got to see the low end and high end today! As I was leaving, gave my parking spot to the evening kite crew coming in.

Challenging conditions for foiling. Lots of salad at the entry point which resulted in a great deal of unnecessary profanity as I battled to get into open water. The wind built from zero to 20 plus within minutes and I found myself overpowered but unwilling to change gear. Sun, wind and relatively warm - can't complain too much.

The wind was very fickle today. I started with my big 14.5 Flite and j_dog gave me a launch. I didn't even walk off the grass at Clover because the wind was so funky. It was like a wind bubble with small gusts. I decided to wait and landed the kite. A little while later the wind came up again and j_dog went out on the leeward side with his new kite. The wind wained again and Justin had to swim in. We waited on the point again and the wind came up "for real" this time. I went out and had ab ... (more)

Mediocre session in summery conditions. I thought I was better than I was and could make a 5m work. Not. Just a couple of short, pumpy foiling runs. Switched to 6m and I think the winds increased slightly and had way more fun. No real big swell to play in, but enough to pull carves on the face and the occasional short flag out. It was fun to be out there with BWDave, Idefix, Poper, DocMark, and RupDog. Lots of flotsam/jetsam crap and loose kelpettes. Looking forward to Thursday's winds.

Not much wind and no swell but at least there was lots of debris in the water. The 3.5 was not ideal but it was a good workout I guess.

Tricky session. Time limited because of a dinner commitment at 530pm. The wind seemed to back off just as I launched, and I spent more than an hour taxiing back and forth but failing to get on foil. I couldn't seem to get out of the tideline and each time I looked back I had baby kelp streamers dangling off my stern. What little there was of the wind then shifted to the west and it looked like I was going to have to do a huge walk of shame. Just as I gave up all hope the wind then finally picked up, I ... (more)

Not a wing foiling post. We've had daily tow sessions (I tend to go in the am and wing in the PM). Towing is ridiculous fun!! We've mostly had swell in the 3-5' range with the odd OH set which is all PLENTY on foil. I'm riding a 680 towing and winging and it's been perfect for the most part. A 580 would be great for the larger surf. Long interval swell appears tonight so we'll see what tomorrow brings! Winging in the PM is epic but legs are jelly by the evening. What a place! Wind is cranking 4m now.

Model 2 was a couple of hours behind, early attempts earned me another long swim back to shore. Used the 6.0 on 1250cm for most of the session. Tried a new NP GSwift foil while I still had some daylight. Felt a little underpowered on 1000cm but once in the swell it came alive. I need to try this in 20kts.

Better controlled sustained flights, think standing on the right part of board now. Want more. Don't think it's a fad.

Arrived to Danno rigging up his 6 and what seemed like decent light winds. Danno launched but bobbed around and paddled back in. That prompted me to rig my 7 and I hastily launched while Danno, DrMark and Rob made the smart decision to wait on the beach for the wind to actually fill in. Fortunately I made it out to some breeze, which was also finally starting to build, and with the beastly 7 I managed to get on foil. For a few minutes I had the whole bay to myself, which was kind of cool but also made m ... (more)

Shot photos in am for the tow session but scored a great arvo wing session. A pushy Brazilian dropped in on me on a set wave and started yapping at me. I gently encouraged him to exit the wave by giving him a nudge with my wing's strut. From the resulting splash and Brazilian sounds of glee, it sounds like I made a new friend. Love Chicama!

Only time for a quick one, was pretty bummed I had to leave. Best time I have had at Ross Bay yet. Long flagged rides even when the breeze was lighter. Rode a couple waves all the way down the bay, could have rode a few more if not for crashing. Warm and sunny!
