Another gooder.
With the leftover waves from yesterday, didn't take long before some pretty good sized swell built - a couple that had to be nearing 2m - or as Al Bundy would say, Biguns :-)
A couple large enough that working upwind accidentally punched out the backside - might have to install the foot straps and try it on purpose.

Raining, colder than previous days and an offshore breeze made for a short session. A 2mm farmer john doesn't make for wind sailing warmth either. I'm still lucky to be able to get out on the water in very little time here compard to my sluggish preparation at Pipers. Its nice having everything I need ( except a winter wetsuit) 25ft from the high tide mark.

Porks sounded alarm as I noted E in SE, coming up, aborted shopping/dinner trip to watch him slay it on wing. It built, I raced for kit, got 110/5.3 out to try again. After being full on 5.0 it slid back into shite, but waves bigger & Pauli joined in. We worked it hard, scored few sweet waves & blew my back up some more. Cool sunset

Being a big non-swimming chicken, all of the usual local venues had me fully intimidated. I had a look at Esq Lagoon and that wasn't any better. A Pat Bay OSR from Ben looked doable for me. Worthy of a try since I've never foiled there. I went big wing due to mediocre winds at the start. That changed after 10 min when storm winds came in. Way OP'd but manageable since I was too lazy to switch. Great solo session with lots of flat water power and the Coast Guard close by to save me if I FAFO'd!

Very offshore wind. Got one reach on 4.7 and then it died. Rigged 5.3 when it started to come back after a while and had a few great rides. Swell was massive from the overnight wind, making for some 6' sets! Got greedy when the wind amped up and grabbed my 4.7 only to slog n ride for maybe 20 minutes until it completely died again.

Still battling a cold, but pushed through with the excitement of a big Clover opening day. Showed up to steady 30kts and some kiters ripping. Winddoc, Tweezer, Grantmac, BWD and Paul, getting ready to head out to large seas. As I got down to the water I realized I forgot my leash - guess i will try not to fall. Difficult and large conditions, but still fun and great to get some large swell rides. Christened my 3.5 with a little wound on one of my many falls. Exhausting but fun, looking forward to more. Willows attempted-redemption session. After retreating from Clover this morning, with ripped 4m and tail between my legs, I headed to Willows around 230pm and was soon joined by RobC. It was still howling and I debated rigging my 3m, but ended up using the 5.5m since the winds were expected to come down. Rupert joined and prophesied that we might only have 30 min before it shuts down. He was bang on: a few foiling runs and then the wind was done. Appreciate the sympathy for the wing mishap this morning ... (more)

Perfect timing with the wind but turned out to be an exercise in frustration with all the weeds. I was hoping things had improved but every time I got up on the foil I crashed, it was brutal! Thought that when the wind picked up it would get easier to shed the weeds but it just got sketchy as...full speed out of control crashes. The new smaller high aspect foils do not do well with weeds. Should have gone to Point Roberts again.

Great two hours at the home spot with Idefix. Started out on the 950 as there was still some lighter patches and sailed up to another Mill Bay local Nick who I had spotted about a half mile up the inlet while rigging.......man this place is getting popular. Breeze built so I swapped out to the 940 and decided to sail up around the Yarrow Point weather station which I have wanted to do for awhile now but have never had the right conditions to pull off. Awesome Orca sighting not far off shortly after rounding ... (more)

It's good to realize how much work I need to do. Biggest swell I've been in and I was mostly over powered so felt like I was babying everything not to get the wing ripped out of my hands. Came in after about 30min and caught my breath then went out and got more aggressive. Things started to click and flagged out the biggest fastest swell to date. Also got thrown off the tallest swell witnessed by BWD. Then got nailed in a shore break but luckily no damage to me or my gear.

Didn't have work off till 10am so missed the peak wind and waves me thinks. Should I stay or should I go?
Inviting reports this morning from all our favourite spots : )) With 15-20 kts in Mill Bay I opted to sail local. Gusty, hard to gauge. Frasermc was on it early so I copied his ensemble. 5m/1250 that should do. Adequately powered for the first half, more comfortable on the 4.0 for the second. Nice lines mid-inlet and in close to Verdier Pt. Jumping silvers everywhere! Why can't I catch one of those?

Really struggled in the beginning to get out past the weeds for some time. Clearing the foil again and again. Gusty / Choppy and the short fuse didn't help. Lulls to 10 knots and some gusts to 25 knots.
Off the water by the time the first real rain squall hit. Best part of session.

So fun to be back on the small gear! Took the straps off the Ginxu today and really loved being able to move around on the board. Such a stable and quick-foiling little board. BIG swells at times with some satisfying turns at full speed. Kelp surprisingly was of little issue today somehow. Good crew on it including kites. I spotted a riderless kiteboard floating way out there and dragged in until another kind kiter grabbed it for me to deliver to the person who lost it on the beach. No idea how to wing with ... (more)

First clover SE this winter! Woohoo! OP'd most of the time on the 3.5. Big swell and long rides. Could use a little longer fuse for more stability. Lull ended it for me, but came back for some 4-5m sessions.

WAY too much to play outside in the waves, so mowing the lawn in the fishbowl was it.
Spent most of it overpowered on the 4m, but still able to make some turns.
Only wingdinger among the kiters.

Once done putting the foil gear away, it seemed that model 2 bumped the wind and I was hopeful for a quick proper sesh. Sun, caps, seemed good! Armed with 5.7/110 I got a few runs in both directions but it was a lot of work, hard to sustain and no real waves :( gave in to dying wind

Foil out of winter storage, gorgeous day! 4.7 lt wind. 125l. Figured pump out better, unlike wsfing I stand back, pump, voila! Wish I'd known that. Long runs, pushing nose down but still difficult to control when she comes 2ft+ outta the water. Upwind better. Gybe practice abysmal. Uphaul better but hard w/the bad leg first

Well, that's going to take some getting used to- after 2.5yrs ( day 0 to now) on the same large foil (1880) finally got a smaller one ( 1220).
Got out as it was building, and at first thought maybe I'd wasted the $ - was definitely more responsive, but not dramatically- but as the swell picked up, it came alive!
Running downwind was a blast - way faster than I'm used to, but looking forward to getting to know it better.
Finally had to admit i was way overpowered on the 6m and come in.
Fun.

Windless day in English Bay until 3pm when better sunnier weather brought some East wind. Go figure'
Beauty of being rigged and ready is I was from Condo to on Water and back to Condo for dinner in 1hr 45 . Sailed east towards L.G. Bridge again as wind seemed a little steadier there.

Unexpected session. Saw some trees moving, checked webcam and saw URL ripping around. By the time I got there it had dropped, Tweezer was making his way across the street and out to the point. He sailed off the beach nicely - me not so much. Floated out on my knees to mid bay and waited about 15 mins for a puff to get me up on foil and up to the point. Light wind session with it varying down to 5kts and topping out at 15kts at best. Turned into a cruisey enjoyable session with some of the RBFC godfathers Bo ... (more)
