Willlows and Clover looked finished so made the after work trip to IV. Arrived to about 18kts with 3 kiters and one winger in the water. Decided to foil with an 8m kite. Probably a mistake as the wind built to about 22 with some big gusts and the swell was breaking on the sandbar due to the lowish tide. Not ideal foiling conditions but stuck it out for an hour as I was up against sunset and didn't feel a kite and board change.

Great session. Arrived to the wind and swell dying off but the sun coming out and the tide exposing the clover reef. Made a good call by choosing the 5M, however, it took me a little bit of getting used to riding the swell with the bigger wing constantly backwinding. Once i had that sorted it was good times, a few very nicely shaped waves off the reef that felt like a real point. Made a few nice heelside tacks into the swell which i was happy with. Great 3 days on the foil.

I think I was on it first with a 3m. Perfect for 20 min then wind backed off. 4m worked after that. Solid "A" rating for the swell today; caught a few bombs that had me clenching all the sphincters that I've got! So fun seeing everyone swerving around with big grins. HA 680 may be my favourite foil yet despite the 50 fuse making things pitchy at times. Big swooping turns felt really good and got the tip out on a few harder carves. Wish I could offset my back strap a little more. Epic day!!

Bigger waves and less wind than yesterdays South Easter but plenty of juice for the 4.0. Lots of big steep waves that were easy to link up made for some long fast rides. Felt semi dailed in, only falling a few dozen times. Fun catching breaking waves close to the kelp free point at low tide. Only a couple kelp strands left but could see the new growth starting on the bottom reaching for foils.

Launched into some E/ESE shifty/gusty fuckery with rapidly falling tide, making it difficult to get out into the Bay for the first 40 minutes. After some crazy shifts in direction it settled down into proper ESE and got some good flow moving over the outer bank. Solidly fun waist-high goodness to smack smack smack down into the Bay, good times!
Lather, rinse, repeat
Warmest day yet but still needed the gloves
Lots of flotsam and still weeds in the water.

Another fantastic day in the backyard water park! Really nice, relatively easy day for Big Clover! No gloves, lots of smiles and sun peaking out. Waves got really good for a bit, some of the biggest I've had there for sure with long flagged runs toward the Spiral Stair beach. Woohoo!

Stupid Bobson today. I went out with a new board and different foil in very challenging conditions today at Willows. Lots of waves and wind was very strong then not so much. T&T just coming in and GregCan and Danno out making it look easy. So I wasn't used to my foil, too much lift, and the new board is much smaller than what I'm used to was not a good choice. Not quite according to the plan!
Had hoped to play in the waves outside- but once launched and out there, quickly became obvious it was a bit too nautical for my skill level - so opted to do a loop around to the inside.
The downwind portion was fun! Even got to flag the wing out like i see all the kool kids doing on tv - only managed it for 50m before a spectacular crash ( one of many) but it counts.
Tacked my way inside, then practiced my turns for a while.
ALMOST got a tack.

On it 45 late as Porks scored the 3.7/4.0 sesh, tried 4.2 but 1 run out told the tale. Surprisingly tremendous session, once I got past the shorebreak. The strong onshore SE and med-sized break wreaked havoc on my shortness to get deep enough to move. Once up, it was fantastic well-powered runs with some in-bay swells to try some faux flagged out runs. Shared the swells with Jon, who handled the tough conditions pretty handily, and a new foiler that had a hard time. MtnarG almost jumped in but was stopped by shoulder-preservation instincts. Full on when I arrived. Rigged the 2.5 and 4, then went with the 4. Overpowered but the 2.5 would have been too small in the lulls and later on when wind eased. Loving the insane glide of the Art Pro 1001 but sacrificing the hard carves of the Spitfire.

Got in an hour this morning before the tide dropped too much. Feeling a lot like winter out there today, the Easterly winds didn't help for sure. Some nice waves with the dropping tide with some fun waist high ones up by the boarder. Lots of debris in the water though and a few close calls is what made me call it a day. I had a feeling that break of dawn today was going to be good. I was not disappointed. A little over the top, with 30-35 kn winds coming in from the south east with epic swell. Super funky out at the point and I was glad to see I wasn't the only one getting spanked. Awesome to be out sharing waves with Ryan and Tweezer, followed by Shaggy and El Tuna. Harsh conditions and I eventually tore my wing but totally worth it.

Coffee, banana, dawn, wetsuit. Wow! So much fun. RBLocal on early shift riding the reef break with a sea lion. Tyl and I joined. Then Shaggy, Tuna, SteveO, Greg, Wingdoc. So many good waves and the wind held pretty steady. Ran out of bladder and shuffled in. Coffee, banana.

Was more survival than play, overpowered on the 4m.
Had to tuck up close to the spit with all the crazy leaping kiters ( luckily that crowd seem to have their shit together, and no issues). Not as much fun as playing in the waves, but good turning practice.

The sea (white caps) looked windier than it really was but it was a gorgeous afternoon and I had to give it a whirl. I did okay on the 12m with the Tiki but I really should have pulled out the 14.5m. I came in once when it lulled but went out for a second go and that was not bad at all. That Tiki board really helps with the light wind; it is my sloggin' toboggan! :-).

Arrived just before noon. Looked pretty iffy, but after 30 minutes, there seemed to be a few promising puffs. Did my best with a 5m and the 1050. I feel I was just under what was required but pretty close. Got a few runs in and then conditions started to taper again. No joy. Beautiful day though. Decided to save energy for a 30 knot dawn patrol tomorrow. Crossed fingers.

A tale of 2 sessions. Early session was 9/10, completely powered out to the point and beyond and even in the bay. Jibes felt effortless as there was always power to grab when you needed it. Played endless jibe tag with Idefix and everything seemed to work. It reduced after about 1.5hr when Bobson arrived. I headed in and yelled at him to not go out too far. Second session was a bust 3/10. Initially got some fine rides and then it died. Thanks to Wingson for real sticktoitiveness and post ride pops!
