What a fantastic opening to the Piper's season for me with FraserMc, Danno, and locals DaveM and UdderReef. Sunshine, steady cross shore winds, friendly swells, easy tidal flow, even friendlier sea lions - I'd pay even more money than my $50 in gas to travel to this warm gem of a winging destination. Powered even in the bay as Danno and I played jibe tag until I eventually tired out. Sad to have to leave so much wind still pumping as Danno and FMc hit the swells again. Thanks for the post-flight bevy Danno!

Well it was only a matter of time I guess, had a sea lion strike today to end my session. Big bull came up about 10' in front of me, I had time to say 'o shit' before I hit him and ended up in the water. Couple seconds of panic getting back on the board before realizing he was long gone, nice to know they don't take it as Foiler picking a fight! Great warm day with a few waves to ride on the outside, windier on the inside today perfect for practicing tacks. Fun gybing 20' off the beach for the spe ... (more)

Wore a lucky green St Patty's day T shirt that helped get a little more breeze out. Warm weather makes for May like sailing. A freind on his Wazp Foiler dingy managed to foil for a couple of reaches. It was a typical out on the rip & back on the eddies outing for me. Best fun was out off John Lawson Park mostly doing ins & outs.

Been a while since I've winged out here. Managed to find the G-spot and was rewarded with a nice ride. Started on ART1099. Just enough to get up. Wind picked up so tried my new ART Pro1001. Needed some hull speed to get up but felt like the fastest I've been on foil. Amazing glide at speed, more manouverabe and pitch sensitive than the 1099. Happy with my purchase. Scored my longest wave ever proning it earlier this week. Looking forward to putting it through it's paces at Ross.

Chilly session around 2C, arrived when the only two kiters were getting out, so it was a solo session. Rigged the 10m Ultra thinking it would be a bit lighter, I was way wrong. The wind came up and I had the wait harness around my chest for the whole session and way over powered on the 10m, decided to call it after I kept getting pulled off the foil. Self landing was a bit difficult because I was overpowered. Overall a fun, quick and chilly session.

Took a chance and scored a beautiful hour of flying off Cattle this morning. Used the big gear and it performed with easy pop up and super low stall speed. Flitted around with the fleet sailing. Mtnarg, Bobson and i out, then joined later by RupDogPaddle.

Flat water and warm sunshine. Nice to have ULR, Bobson, & RupDog join me. I was surprised I didn't see more folks on the water. Light wind, but nice little gusts to get me going. Even enough wind that I made a bunch of gybes. Excellent day to be foiling. Too bad it didn't last a bit longer.

Arrived at 10:30am with MtnarG rigging the 8.0m and ULR arriving. I rigged the 6.0m Sailworks Flyer which was great! Went out and foiled right away seeing MtnarG ripping back and forth. ULR came out and was foiling with huge smile on his face! Wind was good for 50 mins then it dropped to <10kts and all were schlogging. I came in to rig the 7.0m Sailworks Flyer but wind was super light 6-8kts so even the 7.0m wouldn't work. Saw Rupp-Dogg sitting on his board out a ways and looked like he was lighting up a ... (more)

Late game decision. The forecast was a little light but 16kts at Entrance Island from the noon report confirmed Model2. With a loaded wagon on standby for CP, I veered North to Pipers. Not quite the intensity I'd hoped for but good enough for the 1250cm. Some reasonable swell lines of the point and north of the Hudsons. Well powered on the 6.2m for a late afternoon session.
Spring's here :))

Had a great light wind session with Red Van Paul. Big wing and big foil. 10-12 kts with some 14 kt gusts further out. Nice to be out in warm weather and flat water. Had a bit of a slog back the boat ramp when the wind died a bit. Fortunately I was upwind.

Arrived to a low tide and low wind. Met Rupp-Dogg in the parking lot and we chatted for a minute and then I rigged up the 7.0m Sailworks Flyer. Took a couple mins to find a gust then foiled for 10-15 mins then it was lighter so was a pump-fest with only a few more foiling runs. It was just too nice out to not try. Sunny and Warm, YES, Warm!! I think Rupp-Dogg used me as a Wind-dummy. Probably smart not to go out as it was pretty light. I probably need to start Winging soon. Probably.

Took a long lunch and hit the quick N at CP. Nope, not Winging yet. Rigged big as was not sure it would stay. SMART! It lasted about 50 mins. So I hit it perfectly, headed in before schlog-time. Tide was quite low but almost warm on the hands. Hoping for more N in the next couple days.

First Spring session for 2024! Four kites out there, wind ramped up and the sun came out, Ross Bay filled in.
Those wind waves were nice! A gust downwind of Clover pt pulled me right out of my bindings.
Good session to knock the rust off. There was a lot of rust.

Arrived early. Met Mark at the beach. He headed out, but did a short session. Then I headed out. Had a nice flat water session a bit overpowered on the 8m. Wind picked up, so switched to the 5m. Wind picked up some more, so called it a day. Danno, WindDoc, BWD, and Bobson were all heading out. Really great day even if it was solo.

I was excited to get a session today and arrived earlier than I had planned. I pumped a 10m but then thought better of it and used a 12m instead. I was partially de-powered most of the time but the 12m was the right choice. I had a blast and wanted to have a longer session but a squall cloud was menacingly moving toward Clover and so I decided to come in. Good to chat with Finn and Tyler on the point.

What a great evening sesh. The waves just kept getting better! So much fun. Forgot to start my watch so only tracked about 40min of it. Now to figure out how to upload it!

Total bonus as I had no idea it was going to be a foil day. Let alone serious wind, swell and sunshine. Some conflicted swell and flotsam, all ignorable for some of my longest surfs at RB yet. Got smacked around with my 5 as I showed up in a lull and played it safe. Bobson promised a sequel and he delivered in spades. 4m and all good.

Beautiful afternoon. Started on the foil and wanted to visit Ross Bay but the wind seemed fickle so stayed west of Clover It then picked up significantly after about 30min so was forced to switch to twin tip. Perfect on a 10m.

Saw the wind on the webcam and my phone was blowing up with OG msg's. So I ducked out of work and headed to RB. Arrived at 1:45pm with Windoc boosting big airs and Danno looking like a Pro out on their 5's and MtnarG packing up and bragging about his solo morning sesh. It looked windy so I rigged the 4.5m with 80% power. As I was rigging HugeWaveDavid arrived to show off his newly trimmed facial hair, we compared and his was much thicker and less gray! HA! I headed out just after 2pm along with Jumper-Steve ... (more)

Needed some redemption after yesterday's cranking SE (similar experience to ULR). Great Ross Bay session with BWD, RBL and Bobson followed by a later crew. There was a helping of peas with the mash potatoes and a lull half way through. Took a few runs to get the mojo back, 45k later ego was restored!

Always great when pull up to your local and its going off. Tried the 5M first and found out it was real windy out at the point, so quickly switched up to the 3.5m. Swell was super fun, lots of smiles and people shredding. Everybody is happy when its windy, sunny, and wavey :)

Super fun and easy sailing compared to yesterday. Fun skate park conditions with steep waist high swells and lots of linkable waves. A bit of a lull after the rain, but the wind and swell came back for the evening crew. See everyone on the next windy day (May 5th).

Turns out my equipment is ok it was me that was broken yesterday, all was good and fun today, yay! A pleasant sunny day in the RB bump park, easy wind and wave conditions made for a delightful day in the sun punctuated by a cold spitting rain squall, then a lull, then a float, than back at it again! Bobson whooping around still avoiding the wing thing, Winddoc just leaving, BWD, DrMark, Tugboat(?) in attendance. BigJohn and OthersWhoWork beginning to show.

Great day for the 6.5 Pat Bay Slayer. Was both UP and OP at times but no/little down time.
Gybe practice. When lots of wind nailing most of the port-to-starboard flying gybes and footswitches. But starboard-to-port is beyond goofy. Somehow leaning in but flying out the back at the same time. I guess I should work on doing the footswitch first on that side. Nice to be focusing on it and making progress again though.
