I was at Nitinat Sunday, it was blowing really hard until about 3 PM. I think it best to choose two days for the event. Better chance of it actually happening. If you look at the statistics, July would be the best bet for kiting. As for windsurfing there were much fewer days. Now if only I could kite . . . . .

Mt Washington is in fact under 3 hours with the new roads but does not compare to Whistler (Disneyland as I like to call it). There are a few backcountry spots on the island as well, the closest about an hour away. http://www.clubtread.org/kludahk.htm Other than that I think Victoria wins hands down...
