windometer

Pretty good Kus. We'll have to add the Kus report to the forecast page now too  Tues looked good but never got past about 20 knots. Wed was 27-32 by 4pm but got gusty and fizzled around 6pm when a big cloud rolled in :? Today should be good once the cloud burns off.

wetsuit

I've been wearing a 3/2 but it's a bit chilly if you're in the water much....say like bodydragging across the inlet  Feel free to come down and check out the launch at Wild West. We've still got a ways to go before it's running at full steam but we do have a temporary windsurfing launch in pla...

sauna

A sauna eh? Hmmm.....people don't really like sauna's do they?? Thanks for the offer. I'll have to check into it as the fire restrictions up here are pretty severe. Not sure if a woodstove would be considered a risk or not. Some heat sure would be nice :D I'll let you know in the next few days...

cabarete

We went to Cabarete this past January. We stayed with friends and rented our gear through Villa Taina. It was very reasonable. All new JP, F2, and Ezzy gear. Villa Taina also has accomodations so you may be able to do an all inclusive type thing. It's right in the heart of Cabarete so you're close t...

board size

Just thought of something else. I had an interesting opportunity to do a head to head board test on our trip this winter to Cabarete. We got a windsurfing package from a resort that featured brand new JP FSW boards. Over the course of our trip, I tried the entire range, sometimes 2 or 3 in the same ...

board size

I vote for slightly bigger ~ 90L +/-. Like Kus said, that's a huge jump from 110L. I'd say once you're comfortable on a 90L board, then look for something smaller. You'll still use the 90L all the time though. I'm the same size as you and if I only had 80L and 110L boards I'd be wishing I had someth...

lessons

Great idea Kus. I ran a free womens only clinic a few years ago and had a really good turn out. I had a few volunteers helping out with basic lessons and had some gear donated for the day (GO boards, long boards etc). It might be fun to do an open clinic once a month to get some new interest. We cou...

sail rigging

I didn't say "ignore" the sail specs. I said they are intended to be used as a guideline, which is exactly what the sail designers say as well. I agree, a beginner isn't going to know how a sail should "feel", but they can learn pretty quick what a properly rigged sail should loo...
