    Naish Outlaw 4.0
I'm green with envy for the JR boys, but Kook put it on nicely for a while. Waited for nearly an hour for the wind to pick up for the 5.0. Sailed for an hour or so maxed out. Rigged the 4.0. Still felt huge in the big puffs. The reef was going off like I've never seen, and huge overhead ramps were to be found on the outside. VERY gusty. Had some very big jumps and a few fun forwards. It's been a while since I sailed in conditions like that! Good day.

Cptn Ahab's log, Chapter 3: forecast wind turned into quite a bit more, 5.8 was laughably over for quite a bit, then mellowed, then slowly died off. Despite cramped thigh, tweaked knee, wooden foot, (which I often needed to check to see where it was on the board, what's next?) a great sunny day on the water!! :P :P High Kitemare potential on beach today! First Session at Cook St. this year! Loads of fun for the first half hour (about 15-18 knots), then it mellowed out to gentle, soft wind (about 12-14 tops) that was only good for cruising. But great to be out on the ocean again (with a few friends to boot) and actually warm. The Kook St. Season has started! :D

Wimped out of dawn patrol, but got an OK session just before sunset. Wind was up near 20 as I rigged, first couple of runs powered, but then it dropped, planed in gusts, slogged the rest. Made one almost-planing gybe, a couple of OK ones, one nearly a slam jibe, managed to push the board around with my feet (and its big!). Practiced some clew-first sailing, easy with a big chop to help get momentum. Only sailboard, at least a dozen kites.

Might fine down the line. Oh wow what a great day. Arrived at 6:45am after staying at Bean's place (thanks dood!) just to see the wind drop and huge swells rolling in. I almost cried. Then within minutes the wind was back and there was hope. Went out on the 4.5/RRD then it came in some more and I switched to the Evo. The swell was fantastic with great rides and jumps as high as you wanted. Had 2 big jumps and landed flat...ouch. Saw Ozy do a crazy huge stalled forward - wow. Wind dropped at 10am and we almo ... Chomped down some breakfast burritos with BWD and RG at 5:45 am and we were on the water at 7:00 am for the best wave sailing I've had at Columbia yet. Finally spun a forward around to my back with my feet in the straps and super stoked! Wind died off, we had a beer, told some stories, watched everyone pack-up and leave, and three hours later the wind and swell picked up again and BWD and I rigged a little bigger and had another fun hour on some nice smooth waves. And did I mention it was sunny? AWESOME DA ... (more)

Got worked in shorebreak a couple of times, one was for real. Had a jump of my life - I took off on a vertical 6 footer, at the actual moment of taking of it started to brake and gave me this little spank and the face full of spray, so here I am flying in the air, can't see a thing, and I'm flying and flying, and flying, finally opened up my eyes and foung myself at least two meters high! SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!! Columbia rocked. Big swell, fun smacks, lots of forwards, barefeet on the Evo. Doesn't get much better for me. managed to avoid getting herring cum on my gear today. Watched a poodle terrorize the spectators in their cars at the beach. Eagle nowhere to be found. Darn. Just managed to get some of the fun waves for jumping before the wind backed to marginal 5.8 conditions. Threw 3 forwards and mostly goofed around on the inside. Fun! Hope tomorrow is better though :D ! All those with small lap-pets at Columbia be warned: there is a large bald eagle cruising around that looks pretty hungry! I think I saw some poodle fur stuck in its beak...

I manged to find out that the downwash from a Seakings blades make it hard to keep a sail in the air!! other than that sunny ans warm :)

Fantastic 3 hours of great sailing then last hour of trying to make it back to beach without walk of shame  . The current was really flowing!! The last hour wasn't as much fun mostly schloggin' trying to make it back above the boat ramp....I gotta learn to quit while it's still good. Always stay just a bit long. Next time...ya righ ... First after-work session of the year! Got to IV at 5, sailed until 6:45, unrigged in dusk -> dark with Bobson. Wind was dropping, but still planed every run but a couple of short slogs. Huge ebb current made staying upwind very hard. About 4 jibes planed almost all the way round, lots of stay-dry, one almost a slam-jibe, a few dry slog tacks. Chilly only about 7 but great views of Baker.

OK session once I figured out the current. It felt like an anchor attached to my board. Went out from 10:30-12:30. Tried my bigger board at the end just to try it out and I rocketed up wind with ease. Should've used it the whole time. It was really patchy wind today coming straight out of CAddy BAy. The floatier board carried me through the lulls.

Pretty much just back and forth but fun to be on the water on such a nice day. Thanks to PAt and Rick for the coffee and cookies :D

This was the 1st decent NE wind that I have sailed at IV. The wind was steady, the water was smooth and the sun was out.
